If you love mountaineering, then the flat-topped Ololokwe Mount in North Eastern Kenya is worth your time. It is a journey of self-discovery and connection with nature. If coming from Nairobi, you drive north beyond Nanyuki, through the beautiful fams around Timau. You can stop at Isiolo for brunch then officially start the tour. At Ololokwe viewpoint, you can stop to take photos. The journey then gets to Sabache camp which is situated in the middle of the range.

When the morning comes, start hiking to the top of the mountain. The earlier you start, the better. Most hikers get up at 5 AM to start the climb of Ololokwe Mount, following the trails, which are actually elephant and cattle tracks.

You get the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the rising sun as you near the top of the mountain. It is said that sunrise from here creates moments of pure connection with self and nature. Take as many photos as you want.

Keep walking over the acacia shrubs to the top. Ololokwe Mount lies 2000 meters above sea level. You get to see so much beauty from the top, including Nkadoru Murto rock formations.
